Platform PI, which was founded in 2003, is a structured collaboration between patient organisations and the research-oriented pharmaceutical industry. Its goal is to improve pharmacotherapeutic care and to strengthen the position of the patient. To this end, the Platform focuses on long-term social and scientific issues.
The Platform provides in-depth insight into each of the above-cited themes underpinned by scientific analysis and collective expertise. Amongst other things, this is achieved by initiating theme-specific studies at independent research institutes. The basic principle underlying this is that recommendations, specifically aimed at patients, can be formulated on the basis of these scientific studies. The Platform then brings these to the attention of those working in a particular field, enabling them to find concerted, concrete solutions which improve pharmacotherapeutic care and strengthen patient autonomy and self-management.
